Jesus Christ Superstar, the first rock opera created as a concept album at the end of the turbulent ‘60s, has at its center a political and social rebel in the character of Judas. The play centers on the conflict between Judas and Jesus during the week before the crucifixion. Judas questions the radical teachings, popularity and motives of this new prophet and ultimately betrays him.
